Prologis Northern Europe is shaped by a vision toward true real estate innovation, and sustainability is an integral part of that ideal. Prologis develops and manages energy-efficient buildings that help lower the operating costs of our customers and reduce the environmental impact of our logistics facilities. The responsible use of energy plays an important role in this process, including the realization of solar panels on our roofs.

In order to generate environment-friendly energy, Prologis is installing solar panels on the roofs of its logistics facilities. “Prologis has set a global goal to generate 200 megawatts of solar energy by 2020, which we already exceeded in June 2019,” said Sander Griffioen, project manager Benelux. “Prologis Benelux contributed substantially to this success. In order to achieve this, we partnered with Sunrock.” The company, with headquarters in Amsterdam, offers the necessary expertise to support Prologis with the ongoing project.

“Together with Sunrock, we have already realized more than 50 megawatts of solar power in Benelux,” said Roderik von Meyenfeldt, property manager Benelux. “This is enough power to provide over 13,000 households with sustainable energy, and we’re not planning to stop there.”

Currently, the team is installing solar panels on the roofs of four locations: Eindhoven, Venlo, Tilburg and Nieuwegein. With these installations alone, over 120,000 square meters of solar panels will generate 18 megawatts of electricity—enough to power 5,000 households.

“We are very proud to contribute to a better tomorrow,” said Griffioen. “But we’re just starting. A portfolio of 74 million square meters worldwide offers a lot of space for solar panels.”
