Prologis expands city hub portfolio: Amsterdam City DC1 fully redeveloped and Amsterdam City DC5 acquired
Prologis expands its city hub portfolio in the Dutch capital with the completed redevelopment of Amsterdam City DC1 and the newly acquired Amsterdam DC5. The sustainably redeveloped distribution center DC1, located less than 4.5 km from central Amsterdam, has easy connections to road networks and public transport. The newly acquired, existing facility DC5 is also located close to the city of Amsterdam. Both assets are in line with Prologis’ strategy to create logistics city hubs surrounding major cities, as a response to the growing demand for city distribution.

Amsterdam City DC1: a sustainable renovation
The strategic location near the A10 highway makes DC1 very well suited for an efficient and sustainable ‘last mile’ delivery. The DC1 facility features 35 dock doors for E-vans, all equipped with EV speed chargers with a charging capacity of 120 km per hour. The electricity is largely generated on site by solar panels on the façade and roof.
The redevelopment was conducted re-using the foundation, concrete floor, and steel construction. The shell is completely renewed, allowing the inclusion of new offices and solar panels. Completing the redevelopment with the addition of eight truck docks and the installment of 30 van doors including charging points for e-vans, the building was awarded with a BREEAM Very Good certificate. The facility is currently available for lease.
Marijn van den Heuvel, Director Capital Deployment & Leasing at Prologis: “We are delighted with the successful renovation of this sustainable facility in our Amsterdam city hub portfolio. The Amsterdam DC1 facility is a perfect example of our intention to optimally serve our customers’ needs in terms of sustainability and urban distribution.”

Amsterdam City DC5
Besides redeveloping and upgrading the current city hub portfolio, Prologis expands its city hub portfolio with the new distribution center Amsterdam City DC5. This facility is a 4,030 square meter property and is also located close to the city center of Amsterdam. The property is currently leased by Sanday’s Bakeries bv.
“This asset is an attractive addition to our existing city hub portfolio in Amsterdam,” says Jack Geurtjens, Director Transactions Northern Europe at Prologis. “We’re excited to keep looking for opportunities and acquire more facilities surrounding major cities in the Benelux.”
