DHL Express has signed a long-term contract with Prologis for the lease of a distribution center located on the tarmac of Brussels Airport. With several Prologis warehouses leased by DHL worldwide, ‘the logistics company for the world’ is one of the logistics real estate specialist's top clients.
Brussels, December 3 2021 - Following the increase in its air logistics volumes, DHL wanted to expand their presence on Brucargo, the dedicated cargo area at Brussels International Airport. The Prologis distribution center was the natural choice since it’s located next to DHL’s existing facilities.
"The location of the Prologis distribution center on Brucargo, with its direct access to the tarmac as well as the Brussels ring road, was decisive in DHL's choice," explains Marijn van den Heuvel, Director Capital Deployment & Leasing of Prologis. "In this highly competitive environment, our desire is truly to be a partner in facilitating the growth of our customers, offering them real estate solutions in line with their strategic needs."
This new long-term agreement between the two companies is not a first. In the Benelux, DHL is already a tenant in several Prologis-owned logistics facilities. Also on a global level, Prologis is one of the largest suppliers of logistics space to the transport solutions specialist.
“Following above expectation growth due to Covid-related increases in pharma and e-commerce business, DHL Express was looking for a partner to support this growth challenge” explains Freek De Witte, Public Affairs Manager, DHL Express Hubs&Gateways Belgium.
Sander Breugelmans, SVP, Regional Head Northern Europe at Prologis concludes, "We are delighted to expand our relationship with DHL in Belgium. This agreement is a testament to our customers' loyalty and our unmatched ability to meet the unique needs of their supply chains around the world."
