Last week, Tilburg-based organizations elho group and Dollevoet celebrated the opening of their new warehouse: Prologis Park Tilburg DC5 - Prologis' most sustainable warehouse in the Benelux. Sustainability and circularity play a central role at the facility: solar panels, storage of solar energy in a mega battery and excellent facilities and working conditions for employees. All this has led to the BREAAM label 'Excellent' and WELL Gold certification. The distribution center is almost 40,000 square meters in size and offers both companies ample space to grow further.

Sustainability

Tilburg DC5 was designed with innovation and sustainability as the highest priority. Therefore, this branch is the perfect distribution center for business partners elho group, producer of sustainable synthetic pottery and related products, and Dollevoet, which provides transport, storage and distribution of elho products. Tilburg DC5 enables them to scale up their activities and grow sustainably, while enjoying good connections to multiple road networks, water and rail terminals. Sebastiaan Dollevoet, owner of Dollevoet: “By centralizing and choosing for a sustainable building, we are heading towards a beautiful future in a green and sustainable way.” Ted van Deijck, COO elho group, adds: "This warehouse fits perfectly with our strategy of putting our people first. The use of a daylight rhythm, the climate control and the greenery in the building create a pleasant workplace. Also, the facility offers a lot of flexibility to scale up the capacity."

Megabattery

The distribution center has a BREEAM Excellent sustainability certification, WELL Gold certification for employee health and safety, a high percentage of cradle-to-cradle and recycled building materials and is fully equipped with LED lighting. Uniquely, Tilburg DC5 is fully equipped with solar panels, a mega battery (as big as a shipping container) and a charging point for electric trucks. The battery facilitates that the surplus of solar energy is used to provide households in the municipality of Tilburg with electricity and that the electricity network is relieved. Sander Breugelmans, Senior Vice President Prologis: "We are particularly pleased that with elho group and Dollevoet we have customers who, like us, attach great value to sustainability and innovation.  With the lease of the most circular building in our portfolio, we hope to help elho group and Dollevoet on their journey to the most sustainable business operations."

Donations to Tilburg charities

To give something back to the municipality of Tilburg, Prologis took the opportunity to make two donations to local organizations: the Johan Stekelenburg foundation, which is dedicated to underprivileged children in Tilburg, and Tilburg city beekeeper Beezzzz, which is dedicated to bees and education about bees. Both organizations received €2,500.
