Amsterdam, February 25, 2021—Prologis, the world leader in logistics real estate, will donate $25,000 (€20,500) to Stichting Leergeld Amsterdam today as part of the Dock Doors of Giving campaign. With this campaign, Prologis supports local causes impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Stichting Leergeld Amsterdam strives for equal development opportunities for children in Amsterdam, regardless of their parents' assets.

Equal opportunities for children

The most vulnerable are most affected by the global pandemic. Sander Breugelmans, senior vice president, regional head Northern Europe: "As part of the Dock Doors of Giving campaign, we support local causes that desperately need our help. Children have been hit hard by the coronavirus crisis, and it can be difficult for parents to support them due to low literacy, unfamiliarity with the Dutch school system or lack of financial resources. Stichting Leergeld Amsterdam strives for equal opportunities for children, and we are happy to contribute to that.”

Greater demand for learning materials and tutoring

Learning and development delays are increasing, while the gap between rich and poor is widening. During the first coronavirus wave, many vulnerable children missed online lessons because they didn’t have laptops. Stichting Leergeld Amsterdam helps these students by providing laptops and other learning materials or paying for tutoring. Stichting Leergeld Amsterdam is dependent on donations to fund its efforts, and the number of applicants increased sharply in 2020 and is expected to grow in 2021.

In addition to donating to Stichting Leergeld Amsterdam, Prologis supports other causes with the Dock Doors of Giving campaign. Learn more at http://www.dockdoorsofgiving.eu.
