As senior manager real estate & customer experience at Prologis in the Benelux region, Sandra van Deijl considers herself as the spider in the web between customers and colleagues that “zoom around” customers. Sandra talked to us about her job and her passion for organizing events with a good cause.

Please tell us about your background.

Sandra: Construction and maintenance have always interested me, even as a child. For instance, if my room needed decorating, my father gave me paste, a table and rolls of wallpaper stimulating me to do it myself. This approach steered me towards engineering, first as a specialist, then as an all-rounder in my current position.

Can you tell us more about your professional experience?

Sandra: For 15 years I worked for Slavenburg, where I was responsible for Prologis as a customer in terms of maintenance of Prologis buildings. Considering my experience with Prologis as a company and my passion for the type of business they were and still are in, I decided to join Prologis. And after nearly 15 years at Prologis, working as a property manager, and now as a senior manager Real Estate & Customer Experience, this has proven to be one of the best decisions I have made on a professional level.

How do you stay on top of your customers’ needs?

Sandra: I believe it is crucial to be compassionate and think from the customer’s perspective. Being the spider in the web between customers and colleagues helps me to meet our customers’ expectations to the fullest.

What do you like most about working at Prologis.

Sandra: First if all, I enjoy the culture of Prologis, where you can entirely be yourself, and speak your mind. What I also like about Prologis is our inventiveness. You will never hear us saying that we don’t have time. We always work towards the best possible solution. And I really love coaching the Property Management Team. When working with less experienced colleagues, I fully realize what an incredible range of experiences I carry with me. It’s great to share my knowledge with the team, helping them to improve their skills, and at the same time improve mine.

Outside of work, what hobbies and passions do you enjoy? 

Sandra: I’m a big fan of organizing events for a good cause. Stelvio for Life is a great example, where we organized a 21km charity climb up the Passo dello Stelvio in Italy, in aid of universal access to the treatment of specific cancer types based on their DNA profiles. I was also involved in organizing the Prologis ski-trip for the Norther European Region. My hobbies, which are hiking, skiing and après-skiing, fit perfectly in these events. My other passions are my family and friends, and my Rhodesian Ridgeback.

What’s the best life advice that you’d like to share? 

Sandra: Seize the day and live life to the fullest!
